Le Domaine de Kerampape : des vignes en Finistère

Finistere vineyards for wine aged at sea ! In an environment dominated by intensive cereal farming and livestock breeding, it's my wish and my project to offer a human-scale agricultural production method, in harmony with the soil and the plants we raise, which nevertheless requires a minimum of mechanization. To date, I have self-financed the purchase of the entire property and its overall renovation, the soil preparation of the two vineyard plots, the purchase of plants, stakes, sleeves, stakes, as well as horse-drawn ploughing tools and a vineyard tractor with shredder. The vines were planted by hand, as was almost everything else, while the ridging and dethatching was done with horse-drawn equipment. At 45, goodbye JA (young farmer) subsidies! In Brittany, which is not yet a wine-growing region, no assistance is available from the departmental or regional councils! 1 hectare alone by hand is exhausting and tedious in terms of time spent and physical energy expended ... in addition to the rest of the property to maintain (4ha in total: hedges, lawns, trees, embankments ...). The next priority to reduce tendonitis is therefore the purchase of a tillage tool with interceps, harrow and sprayer.
Who am I ? Karine Aliouane, 45, neo-winemaker, single mother of two daughters, owner-manager of gîtes and vineyards in Finistère, 1km from Douarnenez. My new life is a long story, but above all it's a love story between the place where I've been living since 2011, the nature that abounds here and the desire to see vines grow here. I left a life as a company director to reconnect with nature, a desire for a very small estate to be managed as autonomously as possible and distributed locally. Nearly 20 years in international trade in import-export wholesale from South-East Asia to Europe ... then a change of direction: a Wineset 3 and training in equine traction at the Ecole Nationale du Cheval Vigneron in 2021, a BTSA viticulture-oenology diploma with the Ecole Supérieure d'Agriculture d'Angers in 2022, to arrive in 2023 at a plantation of 1ha of biodynamic vines. Chenin (a Loire white grape variety), Pineau d'Aunis (a Loire red grape variety) and Gamaret (a resistant Swiss grape variety that thrives on granitic soils) are the three grape varieties planted, on different rootstocks. Kerampape, large farmhouse, purchased in 2011 Today, after restoration of the buildings (below 2 of the gîtes) Planting of vines in 2023 (certified AB) Kerampape is first and foremost a superb place of biodiversity, where Nature expresses itself to the full... Allocation of funds

What will the funds be used for ? STEP 1: 5,000 euros Fixing ropes and wires is the very next trellising project to come. The 5,000 euros will also be used to buy a tractor-mounted sprayer. If we reach this level, the fund-raising campaign will be a success! STEP 2: 10,000 euros Interceps tool and soil cultivation. Brushing by hand is no longer an option if I want to survive! STEP 3: 15,000 euros or more The first harvests should take place in 2026. Between now and then, I'll need to renovate at least one of the buildings reserved for the initial winery and future cellars (insulation, water and electricity supply up to standard). And to buy the winemaking equipment (press, vats, pump, etc.) and maturing equipment (barrels). For each donation, a “share and discover” counterpart ! The Domaine consists of 3 gîtes and an unusual accommodation with a view over the vineyard! I'd like to share all this with you in exchange for your interest in my project. What better way than to share my adventure with you? In addition to the above-mentioned rewards : for donors who would like to be more generous, more passionate, more ambitious, more involved (a vintage together, a partner's investment, other) ... don't hesitate to contact me directly! Why no bottle counterparty ? Firstly, because this is a 1-year plantation, it seems more appropriate to offer something in return that can be offered in the near future. Secondly, offering accommodation at the estate is an opportunity for me to meet you and thank you directly for your gesture, which will count for a lot in the continuation of this adventure! Finally, raising a vineyard means working with the living: it's not a question of launching a production with a defined profitability! The vines will take the time they need to put down roots and grow well here, before giving their all when the time comes ... “amzer zo” as we say here in Brittany = “there's time”! I'll do my best to ensure that these vines flourish and that the Kerampape wine expresses its terroir wonderfully. See you soon for the tastings ... but not too soon either! Planting vines is a story of love, self-sacrifice, passion and realism ... a starting point for a long-term project ... and to be a donor today is also to be part of this beautiful story. In the near future ..: - A white cuvée, 100% chenin - A red cuvée, depending on what the vines yield: either a Gamaret/Pineau d'Aunis blend, or two single-varietal red cuvées each. - A micro-cuvée of both red and white wines, aged at sea ! Winner of the Grand Prix des Oenologues du Val de Loire 2022, a few articles have appeared in the specialist press for those who want to know more about the experiment I carried out on “marine ageing”: https://generationvignerons.com/du-chenin-a-douarnenez/ https://www.reussir.fr/vigne/quand-loenologie-se-lance-leau-de-mer https://www.vitisphere.com/actualite-97125-le-vieillissement-en-mer-assouplit-les-vins.html https://www.lepoint.fr/vin/le-vieillissement-du-vin-rouge-en-mer-26-07-2022-2484473_581.php In the meantime, a huge THANK YOU to all of you for taking the time to click on this project already ... for reading to the end ... and I hope for your donation !
