Atomic Future Part V : 2019 Manhattan Apocalypse

We've kept the best for the end... of the world! In the 70s and 80s, New York, the beacon of modernity and Western civilization, was a magnet for all eyes. The city that never sleeps was the stuff of fantasies. Anticipation films and post-apocalyptic narratives made it their Mecca, the city of promised deconstruction, John Carpenter imagined Manhattan as an open-air prison in his famous Escape From New York(1981), while Italian director Enzo G. Castellari explored the Bronx of tomorrow in 1990 The Bronx Warriors (1982) and its sequel. Two cult incarnations of the Big Apple's collapse, Sergio Martino's 2019 After the Fall of New York (1983) and Bruno Mattei and Claudio Fragasso's Rats: Nights of Terror (1984), have never been released on video in France since their theatrical run and subsequent release on videocassette. Rest assured, these two nuggets of Italian post-nuke are finally arriving on blu-ray in Pulse Vidéo's Atomic Future collection, and even for the first time in the world in Ultra HD for 2019 After the Fall of New York! And for each film, we've produced an exclusive making-of for the occasion. Pre-order also 2019 After the Fall of New York soundtrack (on vinyl or CD) and the world premiere of Rats: Night of Terror soundtrack on CD, with exclusive additions by composer Luigi Ceccarelli. Atomic Future: a crazy post-apocalyptic collection born in 2019! In September 2018, at the Grand Rex in Paris, during the Nanarland night, we launched the craziest of bets. That of releasing one of our favorite films in France on blu-ray: Sergio Martino's Atomic Cyborg (1986). Little did we know at the time that this impulse would lead us to found our own label, Pulse Vidéo, and that this trial run would turn into a collection dedicated to Italian post-apo. Since then, we've released no fewer than eight films in high definition, some of them world premieres: The Exterminators of the Year 3000, The Gladiator of the Future, 2072, The Mercenaries of the Future, The Predators of the Future, The New Barbarians and Bronx Warriors 1 & 2. It's now time for us to turn the page. But we wanted to do it in style. That is, with two films we dreamed of, two films you dreamed of: 2019 After the Fall of New York by Sergio Martino and Rats: Nights of Terror by Bruno Mattei and Claudio Fragasso. These last two titles in the Atomic Future collection will be presented to you in brand-new high-definition masters, created for the occasion by StudioCanal. For 2019, we chose to offer it as a UHD & blu-ray combo. That's right, we're talking 4K, which will honor the magnificent new transfer from which the film benefited, and which we're pleased to offer you as a world premiere! Also to mark the (final) occasion, with the complicity of our Italian friend Eugenio Ercolani, we've concocted an original making-of for each of the two films, with the participation of the directors, actresses and actors, who will reveal the secrets behind the making of these two nuggets. 2019 After the Fall of New York (1983) by Sergio Martino Original title: 2019 Dopo la caduta di New York With : Michael Sopkiw, Valentine Monnier, George Eastman and Anna Kanakis The story: World War III has taken place. The breath of the atom has ravaged planet Earth and humanity, now barren, has no future. An adventurer named Parsifal enters a devastated New York to find the last woman able to procreate. But in the ruins of the megalopolis, the dangers are many and the mission will not be easy. The film: in 1983, filmmaker Sergio Martino drew inspiration from Mad Max 2 and New York 1997 to deliver Italy's most cult post-apo. 2019 After the Fall of New York is a veritable cartoon film, an incredibly generous and deliciously kitsch spectacle. It stars ex-model Michael Sopkiw (Apocalypse in the Red Ocean, Blastfighter) as Pasifal, an anti-hero strangely reminiscent of Snake Plisken (New York 1997), as well as French actress Valentine Monnier (Trois hommes et un couffin, Elle voit des nains partout! ), the sublime Miss Italy 1977, Anna Kanakis (Les Nouveaux barbares), and the indispensable George Eastman (Anthropophagus, Horrible, Le Gladiateur du futur, Atomic Cyborg). It also features a memorable soundtrack by Guido & Maurizio De Angeli (Yor, le chasseur du futur, La Montagne du dieu cannibale, On continue à l'appeler Trinita or Keoma). Our edition: Discover or re-discover 2019, After the Fall of New York in a UHD & blu-ray combo edition with reversible dust jacket featuring the original period visuals. Our edition is based on a new master created for the occasion by StudioCanal, which we present to you in its full resolution on the 4K disc, in a world premiere (and a first for Pulse!). Travel back in time, viewing the complete film in VHSVision, i.e. as you might have seen it in the blessed days of video stores in the 80s. In collaboration with documentary filmmaker Eugenio Ercolani, we offer you a 56-minute making-of entitled Mutant Worms in the Big Apple, featuring the participation of : Sergio Martino, director Massimo Antonello Geleng, set designer Eugenio Alabiso, actor Mino Loy, actress Ernesto Gastaldi, screenwriter Luigi Montefiori, actor, better known to you as George Eastman Finally, you'll find a selection of trailers by Sergio Martino, Martinorama. Rats: Nights of Terror (1984) by Bruno Mattei Original title: Rats - Notte di terrore Starring : Gianni Franco, Geretta Geretta, Massimo Vanni, Ottaviano Dell'Acqua The story: Two hundred years after the last atomic bomb was dropped, the planet is nothing but a vast field of ruins. Driven by hunger, a group of survivors have made their way to the Manhattan peninsula. This former beacon of civilization could become their final refuge. But what awaits them there is beyond comprehension. The film: In 1984, Bruno Mattei and his partner Claudio Fragasso (Cannibal Virus, Cruel Jaws, Zombi 3), specialists in (very) low-budget productions, took on the post-apo theme with Rats - Notte di terrore. In France, this nugget of Italian exploitation cinema will be released alternately under the titles Les Rats de Manhattan and Les Mutants de la seconde humanité. On the menu: an anticipation film flirting with horror, with a final revelation so astounding it'll nail you to your seat! Embark for the future in the company of the enticing Geretta Geretta (2020 Texas Gladiators, Demons, Warriors of the Lost World) and the then-young Ann-Gisel Glass (À seize ans dans l'enfer d'Amsterdam, Détective de Jean-Luc Godard). Our edition: Discover or re-discover Rats in a blu-ray edition with reversible dust jacket featuring the original period visuals. Our edition is based on a new 4K master created for the occasion by StudioCanal. Travel back in time, viewing the complete film in VHSVsion, i.e. as you might have seen it in the blessed days of video stores in the 80s. In our original making-of Mad Foxes, The Making of a Cult, directed by Eugenio Ercolani especially for our edition, you'll find : Claudio Fragasso, co-director Ann-Gisel Glass, actress Jean-Christophe Brétignère, actor Massimo Vanni, actor Ottaviano Dell'Acqua, actor Gianni Leacche , actor Luigi Ceccarelli, composer In addition to the making-of, we offer a career interview with actress Geretta Geretta, conducted in Los Angeles in 2024. Allocation of funds

To finance the acquisition of the rights to two films, work on the files (synchronization of language versions and subtitles), production of supplements (making-of for each of the two films, subtitling), as well as authoring and encoding. To finance the manufacture of UHD and Blu-ray discs. To finance the acquisition of the extras offered, the blu-ray films offered as extras, the vinyl discs and CDs from their respective publishers, as well as the manufacture of badges and coasters. To ensure the dispatch of all compensation to all contributors. The initial target has been set at 500 pre-sales, which are necessary to enable us to finance these two editions, which present us with a new challenge: the 4K for 2019 after the fall of New York. It's a final wave with a much higher bounty than previous Atomic Future campaigns! From 500 contributions, the project will be validated and the two editions confirmed. If we reach 750 pre-sales, we'll have the pleasure of adding a booklet dedicated to the collection to the 2019 After the fall of New York edition, in which we'll give you a wealth of information and visuals on the 10 titles collected. You'll have noticed that we're not offering Rats : Nights of Terror in UltraHD. We felt that if this made full sense for 2019, it would be a real treat for Rats, which would then have to be sold at a higher price. However, if we reach 1,000 pre-orders, it'll be time to break the piggy bank and also treat yourself to a second 4K disc with your edition of Rats. This 1000-pre-order threshold is very high, and we've never reached it on previous campaigns (nor on any blu-ray campaign in the past), but we've come close on occasion. It's not out of reach: it's up to you!
