Création d'un refuge pour mammifères marins

Cetasea... ? Cetasea is an association under the 1901 law recognized as being of general interest. Created by Frédérique Gilbert, Cetasea is a European project bringing up together scientists, animal care takers and conservation specialists, all in marine mammals areas. Launched in 2015, it focuses its aims on conservation, researches and education of the better-being of marine species. The Cetasea project will be open to the public, respecting the environment of the animals. The public access will be aimed at education and rase awareness to universities, schools, researchers, scientists, students, volunteers, families... What and where ? Cetasea plans to create a European network of shelters for marine mammals. A shelter is "any fixed establishment which temporarily houses, cares for and maintains animals with a view to placing them permanently in fixed establishments guaranteeing their protection and well-being, on a non-profit basis." (definition of Art. L. 413-1-1 of the rural and maritime fishing code) Launching the first European refuge on the Costa Blanca cost, in Spain, where we found the ideal spot to host the project. ➜ The mediteraneen microclimate of the Costa Blanca is perfectly suited to spices. The center of the Costa Blanca will be the first of the network, welcoming and accomodating all marine species. It is mandatory to create several shelters in Europe and to have this possibility of providing solutions for individuals from the various structures in demand. Releasing captive animals back into the wild is not an option as most of the animals concerned were born in captivity and are not adapted to life in the wild. It is therefore necessary to create rehabilitation refuges in addition to sanctuaries. Indeed, the animals have not learnt the codes for fishing, defending themselves, avoiding danger... Captive dolphins are fed with frozen fish and live in sanitised water, putting these individuals directly into the wild would be fatal for them. Why ? The law of November 30, 2021 aims to fight against animal abuse and strengthen the link between animals and humans. The detention of cetaceans and their reproduction will be prohibited from 2026, except in the frame (...) shelters for captive wild animals. Offering a solution when : a dolphinarium ceases its activity, a circus separating itself from sea lions, marine animals which are in distress along our European coasts... To avoiding that these animals are sent to parks on the other side of the world, in a non adaptable to their living environment, exhausting transport and traumatical situation for them. Our aim is to provide a solution to problems through care, conservation, research, awareness and education. TO SUPPORT US... This first refuge will be a good example of what we would like to offer to encourage other European countries to host a Cetasea structure and shelter. We will have to invest on a land, costing around €550,000. And, we need you ! The financing scope for the purchase of splot of land is assured by private investors. The construction of the infrastructures and the day-to-day running of the refuge will be subsidised by the public sector, including the European Union. Donations are tax deductible for French private investors. WARNING : If, unfortunately, the goal is not reached, all investors will be automatically reimbursed.
