Foil for the Oceans

The project aims to achieve approximatively 200km non-stop on a kite foil from St Tropez (France) - Calvi (Corsica). The complexity of the project implies a strong physical and mental preparation that has been carried for several months plus the skills of kite foiling for that long implying a strong mental concentration for the whole crossing.

When the crowdfunding finishes, the project will be carried away on the first day of northerly winds (NE or NW) ranging from 14-22kt winds to avoid rough seas accompanied with a rescue boat. (First days of October approximatively)

The project intends to generate awareness of plastic use, especially single-use plastic.

Previous kite foil crossings have been accomplished of 75km, 90km and 120km in Australia and Spain.

100% of the funds will be transferred to " THE OCEAN CLEANUP" EURO IBAN: NL73 ABNA 0529 4518 24. BIC: ABNANL2A when the crowdfunding ends since they cannot be transferred directly to them (video will be attached)

My name is Eric Plançon, 26, I have been sailing since I am 9 and kitesurfing since I am 21. I am currently sponsored by @afterpartea_eu @corekites @carvedcustoms @kiterepublicaustralia @prosailingsl and I have partnered with @hytwatches, @doux.joaillier to carry up the expenses of the project being fast rescue boat, petrol, GPS equipment, sailing gear and kites. @oceanic.global is also a charity partner collaborating to spread the movement and reach more people.

Spending that many hours in the water in different places in the world, I have seen a considerable increase of plastic floating pollution (which only accounts for 1% of the total plastic pollution in the oceans).

Recycling not being the long-term solution since we know that plastic has a very little recycling cycle, this project aims to generate awareness about plastic use and especially to avoid single-use plastic plus finding sustainable alternatives to stop this plastic hangover suffocating the oceans.

For us:

For the animals:

For our planet:

For our next generations

Foiling (and especially kite foiling) is the most sensible water sport affected by plastic. A piece of plastic as big as a hand is 99% likely to cause a crash of the rider.

The location is strategically chosen since:

"Most plastic pollution in the Mediterranean comes from France" (http://en.rfi.fr/environment/20190607-most-plastic-pollution-mediterranean-comes-france-wwf-report)

In short, we are dumping 33,800 plastic bottles into the sea every minute. The landfill rate is notably high in areas such as Marseille (40%), Corsica (75%). Oversaturated dumps in these areas have also led to the creation of many open dumpsites.

Now, I need your help to back up this project to be spread on TV and give the funds to clean up the plastic in the oceans:)
