Help a local school in Laos
A Oui Ensemble - À l'Unisson France Laos project in partnership with the NK SEEDS association Thanks to your generosity, we can now afford to rent our premises and install garbages to collect plastics. Now, let's collect the additional 7000€ we need to build the two machines! These machines will transform the plastic into new functional objects. The sale of these objects will contribute to the financing of the English courses in our school. The ambition of "Oui Ensemble - À l'Unisson France Laos" : To position "the Human" at the centre of the system to contribute to the construction of tomorrow's world, by acting on inequalities and precariousness, at every stage of life, while integrating the environmental and climatic issue. Why a partnership with NK SEEDS? Youth needs us and we need them. Mélissa, the young NK SEEDS designer, whom we met at the crossroads in Luang Prabang, caught our attention because, by holding on to her dreams, she was able to make her utopia come alive and transform it into reality. NK SEEDS is a non-profit organisation, established in 2018 and based in Laos, which develops international solidarity. The organisation is active in two different fields: Education and Environment. The aim of NK SEEDS: to encourage cultural exchanges between local people and foreign volunteers, while promoting awareness of ecology and environmental issues through the learning of English. The learning of French is planned in a second phase. June 2022: Melissa decides to return to Laos "Since the launch of the project in 2018, supported by a local team, including salaried teachers to provide English lessons to students at NK English School, we had understood the importance of making our project viable and sustainable. Unfortunately, the sudden arrival of Covid-19 forced us all to leave the country. The income-generating activities envisaged to ensure the financial sustainability of the project were therefore suspended. Fortunately, while adapting to the sanitary measures, the local salaried teachers were able to continue teaching. After 2 years of complete closure, the Laotian borders are opening up again. With a French-speaking NK SEEDS team, we have been on site since the beginning of June with the mission of making the school financially autonomous! The objective of this mission with the local team: to put in place the means to perpetuate NK English School, and favourably impact the local economy and the environment, in the continuity of our vision "free education for all in the respect of the environment"." 🌱 Presentation of the project The issue of plastic in the world and particularly in Asia is major. NK SEEDS was already raising awareness of the ecological cause among the school's students through Saturday morning activities and paper recycling. Now we want to go further. In collaboration with the PlastOK project, itself inspired by the "Precious plastic" movement, we will build different plastic recycling machines. The idea is to collect plastic waste from the village of Nong Khiaw and transform it into new functional objects. The proceeds from the sales of these will go directly into NK SEEDS. Here are the different machines we will build: 1: The shredder cuts the plastic items into small flakes ready to be processed by the other machines. 2: The plastic flakes are heated and injected into a mould. This is a relatively fast process, well suited to the creation of small objects. Examples of objects we can make are: *pens and rulers will also be used by pupils at NK English School and our partner schools. Origin of the project The project we are inspired by was initiated by Dave Hakkens from the Netherlands. He developed plans for recycling machines and made them available under a free license so that anyone can build their own plastic recycling workshop. What will the money raised from the sale of the objects be used for? The money raised will be used to pay part of the fixed costs of NK English School (teachers' salaries, rent and charges for the premises, school materials...) 🏫
Allocation of funds
The funds raised through your generosity will help us in many ways: Step 1 - Amount to reach 3 000€: we will be able to rent the premises and install woven bamboo bins in the village. Step 2 - Amount to reach 7 000€: we can build the first recycling machine. Step 2 - Amount to reach 10 000€: we will be able to complete the construction of our two machines! The association À l'Unisson France Laos will issue a tax certificate corresponding to the donation for this operation, and will transfer the entire amount of the funds to NK SEEDS. - By supporting the financing of our action as a private individual, you benefit from a 66% tax reduction. - By supporting the financing of this action as a company partner, you benefit from a 60% tax reduction.
