Le guide Pomélo des 99 choses à goûter (absolument) à Paris
The 99 must eats in Paris If you had to take 99 wonderful things to eat (bought in Paris) to a desert island, what would they be? Former food critic for L'Express, journalist Ezéchiel Zérah has answered this question thanks to the 500 restaurants and other food shops he has visited every year for nearly 10 years. Products to be found in cafés, brasseries, bistros, gourmet restaurants, bakeries, pastry shops, delicatessens, cheese shops, grocery shops... In all, 46 savoury products and 43 sweet products are featured, some in addresses known to foodies, others in more confidential places. All these delights are illustrated by the German-based illustrator Polina Jakimova. In addition to these 99 things, the Pomélo guide lists the 3 great Parisian favourites of 33 personalities of the food scene in Paris (the pastry chef Pierre Hermé and the gastronomic journalist François-Régis Gaudry to name but two). That's 99 + 99 things to eat! The Pomélo guide to "the 99 must-taste things in Paris" - with 36 pages, embossed and with a thick cover (300g) - is produced by the French printing company Deux Ponts, which has been awarded the label "entreprise du patrimoine vivant" (living heritage company) for the excellence of its know-how. An insider's guide... for everyone Behind the scenes, trends around the world, deciphering... Every Sunday evening, more than 5,000 decision-makers and influencers in the food industry (Michelin-starred chefs, star pastry chefs, entrepreneurs, journalists, publishers, agents and press officers, etc.) take the temperature of their boiling world with the paid-for creative newsletter Pomélo. To celebrate its 99th issue, Pomélo will be available in print for the first time in May 2022, not just for insiders but for everyone, with a sharp, fun and different culinary guide, just like the newsletter. M Le Monde magazine about Pomélo on 10 December 2021 : The Pomélo newsletter has very quickly taken root in the gastrosphere thanks to the freshness and profusion of its information, but also to the great interviews of personalities who pull the strings of this very exposed universe from behind the scenes They also talked about / quoted Pomélo: Télérama, Konbini, Les Inrocks, Fou de Pâtisserie, Le Fooding, Elle... The team Ezéchiel Zérah // editor in chief & texts At 31, this Marseillais is considered one of the rising stars of culinary journalism in France. He loves constraint above all else in his job: touring the 52 pizza trucks in the city of Marseille, sitting down in 21 of the 31 Michelin three-star restaurants in France, walking around Tehran for a week for a city guide on the capital of Iran, sleeping on board the Orient-Express to tell the story of the (narrow) kitchens on board, discovering the mango festivals in Pakistan at the height of the season... Polina Jakimova // illustration Originally from Belarus, Polina Jakimova, 33, is an illustrator living in northern Germany. A vegan, she loves lasagne, forest pizza and pelmeni (Russian ravioli), but doesn't like chocolate much and even less spicy food. But that doesn't stop her from drawing all kinds of food! Mathilde Dubois // graphic design & layout guide Mathilde Dubois, 29, never misses a snack. She loves: truffle pecorino, hot chocolate from Cyril Lignac's pastries, dark chocolate and fleur de sel cookies from the Parisian coffee shop Gramme and immortalizing stolen portraits of strangers in the street with her film camera. Wanda Schpoliansky // development & distribution Green curry in Thailand, daifuku (pastry) in Japan, paõ de queijo (the Latino version of gougère) in Brazil... Even during her world tour of cinemas, Wanda Schpoliansky, 36, continued to cultivate her number one passion. She has spent her entire career in the film industry and between two previews, she weaves her ultimate gourmet repertoire: gluten-free burgers from the Little Apple restaurant, glazed pork from Mirama, Mont Blanc from Angélina or the vanilla and raisin "pain de sucre" creation from the Chambelland bakery... Thanks also to the New York agency Polonsky & Friends, which designed the art direction of the Pomélo newsletter (with Paris-based illustrator Cécile Huang), to journalist Ophélie Francq and web developer Alexandre Zérah.
Allocation of funds
Because the Pomélo guide "The 99 must-taste things in Paris" will not exist without your support. We are an independent media. As you know, we are committed to paying decent salaries to all the people involved in this project. The question of how to use the money raised in a crowdfunding operation is always a major issue. You want to know (and have every right to know) how the money you entrust to us will be spent. So here is a diagram of our projected expenses: The different levels: Thanks to your contributions, the first Pomélo paper guide is coming out! 100% of the objective (10 000 €) allows us to pay our golden team, and for this, we thank you from the bottom of our heart (it's namby-pamby but we assume)! But this is only the beginning... By raising 156% of our goal (€15,600), we will be able to continue the adventures of the Pomélo guide... in London! Finally, if we manage to raise 195% of our goal (€19,500), we can put our annual themed magazine project on paper: do we start with ice cream or pizza? 😋
