Recalbox is now available for your JAMMA machine! After the success of Recalbox RGB Dual, the Recalbox team is proud to present Recalbox RGB JAMMA! Bring Recalbox into your arcade machine! Before we go any further, what is JAMMA? JAMMA appeared in the 1980s, and standardized the connection of the various signals in arcade machine. Changing the game on an arcade machine suddenly became child's play. This format has endured to the present day, and is still used in a large number of "old-fashioned" arcade machines with CRT. If you don't have a JAMMA machine, or don't plan to buy one in the near future, Recalbox RGB JAMMA isn't for you... However, its big brother, Recalbox RGB DUAL, lets you experience the thrill of gaming on your CRT TV, is also compatible with Rasbperry Pi 4/3/Zero2 and is available from our official website: And now for the presentation! The list of Recalbox RGB JAMMA features has grown steadily since the project was launched, thanks in part to exchanges with the retrogaming arcade community. Experience unrivalled picture and sound quality with the same tried-and-tested components as the Recalbox RGB DUAL! All games, all platforms, no configuration required. Recalbox RGB JAMMA, combined with the Recalbox system, generates signals as close as possible to the original arcade games, in terms of both resolution and display frequency. Each game is therefore launched with its own display mode. Pixel perfect is the order of the day :) But that's not all: Recalbox automatically configures controls for ALL arcade and console games. (more details in CONTROLS section) Auto detection : The Recalbox RGB JAMMA is automatically detected and configured by Recalbox. You don't need to do a thing, except plug your Raspberry Pi 4/400/3 into the Recalbox RGB JAMMA and plug it into your machine! Raspberry Pi 4/400/3 compatible: Raspberry Pi4s aren't on the market just yet, but the shortage will soon be a thing of the past! You can count on the Pi4 being available this summer, so think about it: by ordering your Recalbox RGB JAMMA now, and your Pi4 this summer, you'll receive both at roughly the same time! Recalbox RGB JAMMA is compatible with Raspberry Pi 4 (2GB of RAM), but also Raspberry Pi 400 (with GPIO extension and external power supply) or Raspberry Pi 3! An image as close as possible to the original games Recalbox RGB JAMMA adapts the resolution and display frequency for each arcade game and console, so you can enjoy the original experience on the CRT screen of your arcade cabinet. The image is therefore IDENTICAL to that of the original game! The new V2 mode generator adds selection of the multiplication factor for horizontal resolution, enabling better image quality on some monitors. In any case, the image will remain pixel perfect and frequency perfect! The Recalbox theme has also been optimized in 240p for improved text legibility and more pleasant navigation. Theme 240p / Virtual systems A major new feature of Recalbox is the ability to activate rankings by machine type or manufacturer! Once you've scraped your games, they'll be automatically placed in their respective categories! Unlocked by the 20k€ stretch goal ! Another new feature for the arcade is the ability to hide clones, and check directly in the interface whether your roms match the version requested by the emulator! TATE mode Are you a fan of vertical shoot'em ups? No more compatibility and configuration problems: Recalbox switches to vertical mode with a single click from the TATE menu! The interface, boot videos and games are automatically rotated in the direction of your screen! 31kHz mode If you're the lucky owner of a 31khz terminal, you can switch any Recalbox to this display frequency. 480p-compatible games will switch to 31khz, while scanlines will be added to 15khz games, so you can play your entire collection! Multisync mode Some of you have the holy grail of arcade gear: a terminal with a multisync screen and a turntable that automatically switches from 15 to 31KHz! We've added a multisync mode to Recalbox! Recalbox RGB JAMMA becomes the ultimate arcade solution: your 240p games are launched at 15khz and your 480p games are launched at 31khz! You can let the system decide which resolution is best, or display a popup that lets you choose which resolution to run your games in: Less than 500µs input lag! It's measured: the Recalbox RGB JAMMA has an input lag of less than 0.5 milliseconds! We've made it a point of honor to reduce input lag as much as possible, and the mission has been accomplished. We've measured the input lags of several controllers/systems with a little program we've named input-lag-tools. This information enables us to compare the input lag of the Recalbox RGB JAMMA and other peripherals, as the measurements were taken using the same methodology and program (input-lag-tools). As input lag can vary from system to system and configuration to configuration, this information is only relevant in our particular context. And here's what an input lag measurement looks like, in video: Input lag is the time between a button being pressed and the system taking this event into account. Not to be confused with latency, which represents the time it takes for the image to update itself after an input event. If your machine has more than 3 buttons, you have a choice: use the CPS1 or CPS2 Kick Harness to connect buttons 4, 5 and 6 switch to JAMMA 6BTN mode if you've modified your JAMMA comb to support more buttons. Buttons 4, 5 and 6 are always available on the KickHarness, regardless of the JAMMA configuration. Automatic mappings The mapping of the 1, 2 and 3 button panels will be the same whether your machine has 3 or 6 buttons: The mapping of the 5 and 6 button panels will be automatically adapted: You can select the 4-button layout for NeoGeo that suits your playing style: And finally, the layout for all other consoles will adapt to your panel: Start Button Patterns JAMMA machine panels have a limited number of buttons, and the Hotkey button is often missing. Yet the Hotkey function is necessary for navigating game options just to get out of the game. The Recalbox RGB JAMMA driver lets you use the Player 1 START button in several different ways: simply pressing the button is equivalent to pressing the START button pressing START + BUTTON 1 will add a credit pressing START and then another button will send the HOTKEY command coupled with the additional button. For example, to perform an instant save: START + BTN3 press and hold START for 2 seconds to exit a game. All these functions are configurable, allowing you to switch from a "home" mode with all functions accessible, to a "public" arcade mode without special functions and with coin-operated support very easily. Boom Box Recalbox RGB JAMMA inherits the BOOM BOX from Recalbox RGB DUAL, which filters the sound signal to deliver impressive audio quality! MONO AMPLI The amplifier boosts the sound signal up to 15 WATTS on your machine's built-in loudspeaker. The differential audio signal is routed to the AUDIO LEFT and AUDIO RIGHT pins of the JAMMA comb. Volume can be adjusted directly from the rotary knob on the side of the board. Mono / Stereo switch And if you have a stereo amp in your machine, plug in the jack or 4-pin connector to get the sound signal in stereo! The resin-printed case The Case (prototype version, can evolve) The RECALBOX RGB JAMMA case has been designed to protect the electronics, but also to ensure efficient air circulation when the fan is running. The companion screen, meanwhile, is a small 2.5cm OLED display that gives you all the information on the 15kHz signal sent to your machine. It displays the game name, core, vertical and horizontal frequencies, and of course, the display resolution. Perfect ventilation For best performance on arcade games, we recommend overclocking the Raspberry Pi 4 to 2GHz. It's in this configuration that the fan makes all the difference! Available as an option, the fan is positioned exactly above the Raspberry Pi's components! It starts at 60° and stops when the temperature drops below 50°. Our tests show a delta of 15 degrees when the Raspberry Pi is at full speed (CPU 100% and GPU 100%). Case + Fan + Screen The case kit contains the resin case (black or white), the screen, the fan and all the necessary cables (fan and screen cables). It allows you to protect and secure your Recalbox RGB JAMMA in your machine. Case prototypes (can evolve) Coin Official Recalbox RGB JAMMA tokens are made of brass/nikel, and measure 25mmx0.75mm. They're simply perfect for your coin-operated machines! Coaster The collector's coasters are in black PCB, with a gold coating :) This is the 5th (numbered 5/10) in the first versus Coasters collection, started with the Modder Brothers project. T-Shirt The Recalbox RGB JAMMA Collector T-Shirt is made from organic cotton, with velvet-look flocking for the RECALBOX and RGB, and phosphorescent flex material for the JAMMA!
