Résidence de l’Ensemble Dynamique à la Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre
Ensemble Dynamique is a project in creating new music, founded in 2020 by the young Lebanese conductor, Oussama Mhanna with a group of international musicians and composers, students and graduates from the best European conservatories (CNSMDP, HEM de Genève, Ecole Normale de Musique, Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Royal Academy of Music of London, University of Oxford etc.) The project centres around an instrumental ensemble of varying formations, allowing for experimentation with the goal of desensitising audiences to the contemporary music aesthetic. The essence of the project involves facilitating the process of sharing music between composers, performers and audiences by proposing unique experiences
in an innovative and cosmopolitan way.
The Ensemble’s Residency Project at the Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre
The Ensemble proposes a residency at the Cité Internationale Universitaire of Paris to their audience, an institution with which the ensemble has had a closer relationship with since its creation. The Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre welcomes the Ensemble Dynamique for a week-long artistic residency including a special guest, the composer Eric Tanguy. He has offered a session working on his composition, as well as a public conference about new music creation and the challenges of a modern composing career. His Trio for piano, violon et alto will be performed as part of the closing concert.
In addition, a young composer will be invited exclusively as artist in residence. The collaboration between the musicians and this composer will give life to a new piece of music. This piece will express the originalities of each musician involved, the personality of the composer as well as the unique atmosphere of the Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre.
Among four candidates, the artistic committee of the Ensemble selected the iranian composer Ardavan Vossoughi. He is one of the most promising composers of his generation and has already been awarded many international prizes for his compositions.
The residence will also include several other young composers from renowned musical institutions and conservatoriums in Paris, who’s new compositions will also be premiered in the concluding concert.
The residential period will take place during the first week of May 2022. This moment of artistic creation will conclude with a concert in the salle des fêtes at the Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre, premiering the new works and showcasing the work of the composers and performers throughout the week.
The residency and the closing concert will be transmitted on the Ensemble’s Youtube and Instagram accounts. A video summarising the activity during the residency and the final concert will be available online after the residency.
