Through the <strong>objects</strong> that surround us in our day-to-day life, design <strong>touches and influences us.</strong> When the beauty of an object, the <strong>quality of its materials</strong> and the<strong> care that was put into its creation</strong> combine with <strong>ethics</strong> that are close to our hearts, design inspires and brings upon lasting joy. That is my work at <strong>VLO design</strong>: imagining and creating inspiring luminaries that brighten up our lives.</p>

Based in Berlin, <strong>VLO design </strong>is an independent luminary design and production workshop started by myself, Clémence Grieco, a designer from Montreal, Canada.<strong> VLO design </strong>offers unique and limited edition <strong>eco-responsible</strong> products. The luminaries shine through sober lines and a close attention to detail during production. </p>

Using my training as a sculptor, I created a first line of high-quality handmade lamps; the <strong><em>Orphelines 1/1 </em></strong>collection presents<strong> one-of-a-kind luminaries</strong>. Old and unique parts, carefully chosen and showcased in a <strong>contemporary</strong> light, guide each lamp’s design. The materials I use to build my lamps are durable, local and fairly sourced. These luminaries were received with enthusiasm.</p>

In the last 2 years, more than 250 <strong>VLO design</strong> pieces from the <strong><em>Orpheline 1/1 </em></strong>collection were sold throughout Europe, Asia and North America, mostly through <strong>VLO design</strong> online shop and my <strong>workshop/showroom</strong> in Kreuzberg, in the heart of <strong>Berlin</strong>. </p>

My little business became known through word of mouth and my participation in local design fairs. <u>However, there is more and more demand for these lamps in more than one copy.</u> It is now time for VLO design to offer its clients a<strong> new line</strong> of luminaries in order to <strong>fully meet </strong>their <strong>needs</strong>. </p>

All parts have been drawn in the <strong>VLO design </strong>workshop and will be <strong>made in Germany</strong> using <strong>durable materials.</strong> Inspired by the Bauhaus and American visual arts movements of the 1960’s, the <strong><em>Panthère</em></strong> collection dons pure lines and highlights the materials. The lamps will be mainly made of hand-moulded and finished <strong>polymer plaster</strong>, allowing each piece to preserve its <strong>unique character</strong>. Each lamp will be numbered and marked with the embossed <strong>VLO design</strong> logo. <strong>In addition to meeting an existing demand, these products will increase the efficiency and profitability of my production.</strong></p>

· Develop my <strong>independence</strong> as far as materials go, no longer needing to rely solely on what is available on the antiques market, which also <strong>lowers production costs</strong>.</p>

· Broaden my <strong>creative possibilities</strong> by designing every part of the lamp.</p>

· Increase the <strong>efficiency </strong>of the lamp <strong>production</strong>, the visual documentation necessary for marketing and the promotion of products.</p>
