INVISIBLE

“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” The Little Prince.

LUZ I, acrylic on canvas. 2016

INVISIBLE

"INVISIBLE" is an exhibition of paintings that aims to present a series of portraits of those people we no longer "see", or rather that our mind no longer wants to reveal. People who are dehumanised by our society, laid about, here and there, like furniture we instinctively avoid. A series of portraits and interviews to remind us that these people have feelings, that they have dreams and ideals...

Some beautiful meetings...

"INVISIBLE" aims to show these men and women through their spirit and thoughts, setting aside their precarious and difficult situations or why they are there in the first place. The goal, for all its modesty, is to re-humanise the image of the people living on the streets and giving the visitor food for thought, and at the same time, collect funds for associations helping these same people.

Ballpen on paper. Spear. 2016.

A CHARITABLE EXHIBITION All proceeds collected for the exhibition will be fully given to charity. All those actively participating in the exhibition are volunteers and no commission will be given for the sale of the artwork. In order to have full transparency, the sale amount for each work of art will be paid on the bank accounts of the charitable organisations by the buyer directly. The various non-profit organisations will be presented during the event.

LUZ II, acrylic on canvas. 2016

"INVISIBLE" is part of the “Painted For Them” project, born 4 years ago, that uses painting to collect funds to help people living in the streets. Canvasses and murals are based on encounters made in the streets. The paintings are sold to support the associations who help these same people. The murals are done, free of charge, to "re-humanise" these same neighbourhoods to promote positive messages. This project has been developed in both Latin America as well as in Belgium.

Canvas made for the Painted For Them project. Spear. 2015.

How?

The exhibition, organised in association with Propaganza, will consist of a dozen paintings on canvas and ten or so A4 drawings, all made by the artist Spear. A text summarising the interviews done with the subjects of the painting, will accompany each work of art.

Mural made with the Propaganza collectiv. The exact time and place will be communicated at a later date.

Acrylic on badass car. Spear. Villa la Angostura, Argentina. 2016.

WHY CROWDFUNDING? First of all to give those who cannot afford a large piece of artwork a chance to participate financially to the project. Secondly, creating an event and exhibition from A to Z is quite an expensive and time-consuming endeavour. As all involved are volunteers, It is difficult for us to invest our personal funds. Since all proceeds will go directly to the charitable associations, "Painted for Them" will not benefit financially from this event. We therefore need YOUR help!

Bring light, Pas Schaefer & Spear. Allocation of funds

Detail:

Canvas, frames & Transport
