THE PROJECT

The project is born from a research initiated in October 2016 inside the locals of ERAC-M.

Nino Djerbir, Raphael Bocobza, Pauline D’Ozenay, Mouradi M’Chinda, Séphora Pondi, Tamara Saade, Clémentine Vignais, Fernand Catry, Nicolas Gachet, Nina Beltaief, Antonin Delom and Camille Lemonnier decide to work on the first draft of a text written by Tamara Saade and start imagining a collective work around “1001 ventres”.

"The project is born from collective question raised during the creation, on the dangers of today’s logics of efficiency in the staging process regarding its use of apparent or hidden violence. Looking back at the political dimension of our own tools and means, we try to deconstruct this apparatus of the "spectacular" by liberating our stories from the devices that tell them. What theatre would be immune to such logics of efficiency?"

1001 NIGHTS

Based on the mechanisms of cultural and material appropriation, our research seeks to retrace the fragmented journey of the Thousand and One Nights through schemes found in other frequent practices, such as the collection of ethnographic objects on occupied territories; while focusing on the physical and oral transmission of the work itself (especially on french orientalist Antoine Galland’s work) questioning the translation process as a choice and the consequences it entails, studying the permanent mutations of a content that each time reveals a strong ideological project.

This brings us back to the questions of representations, hence the interest of creating on stage a film set that questions the notion of transmission. We are in a hotel where a movie around the Thousand and One Nights is being filmed by a french director and her team. The set will witness disagreements and failed attempts over the matter of exploitation of an image and over the various equipments fighting to capture it in its bloodiest, most beautiful dimension. We look forward to open up on the consequences implied by the creation and diffusion of an image, facing the immediate museography of war scenes, developing itself as aesthetics. A recurring question that affects us all as individuals overwhelmed by violent images, but especially as artists that produce them at the risk of trivialising them.

“Sensitive objects” normally do not end up in museums with the consent of the stakeholders, but rather have been stolen, extorted, acquired through unfair trade or dug up in secret and removed. So the issue is the story that make such objects the content of sensitive collections. Not only is the contemporary treatment of such things, as publicly displayed, sensitive but also their provenance, their transfer, their circulation, their removal from their “lifeworld” contexts and finally their transformation to collection items.”

ولد هذا المشروع من بحث انطلق في اكتوبر 2016 داخل مقر ERAC-M/فرنسا. قرر كل من تمارا سعاده، نينو دجربير، رافايل بوكوبزا مورادي مشيندا، سيفورا بوندي، كريمابلطايف ، كليمانتين فينييس، بولين دي أوزيناي، فرناند كاتري، نيكولا غاشيه، انطونين ديلوم وكاميل لومونييه العمل على المسودة الاولى لنص من كتابة تمارا سعاده، قام الفريق بتخيّل العمل الجماعي حول "الف بطن و بطن".

يسائل المشروع المخاطر الناتجة عن آليات التفكير الداعية الى ضرورة وجود الفعالية في طرق الانتاج الفني خلال عمليات الاخراج من خلال استخدام العنف الظاهري و المقنن.

استنادا الى آليات الاستحواذ المادي و الثقافي، يسعى البحث الذي نحن بصدده الى تعقب رحلة مجزأة لمحطات تاريخية لحكايات الف ليلة و ليلة من خلال التركيز على الانتقال الشفهي و الملموس لهذه المادة و مقارنتها بممارسات مشابهة و متكررة في مخططات اخرى مثل جمع الاغراض الاثنوغرافية من المستعمرات المستولى عليها. هذا الانتقال الشفهي و الملموس يظهر خاصة في اعمال المستشرق أنطوان غالاند. يشكك هذا البحث في عمليات الترجمة كخيار و العواقب المترتبة عليه ، كما يسعى الى دراسة الطفرات الدائمة لمضمون و محتوى يكشف في كل مرة عن مشروع ايديولوجي قوي خلفه.

كيف يستطيع المرء الصمود في وجه عمليات " تجميد" مشاهد الحرب الطارئة ، و عرضها كانّها اثاث في متحف، بحيث تلبّس ثوب الجمالية و كأنها تصميم جامد ننتمي اليه و نتبناه. نظرا الى الابعاد السياسية لتقنياتنا و وسائلنا، نحاول تفكيك آلة "المذهل" من خلال تحرير حكاياتنا من الوسيلة التي ترويها. ما هو الشكل المسرحي الذي ينأى بنفسه عن انماط التفكير المتعلقة بالفعالية هذه؟

يعيدنا هذا الى اسئلة حول "التمثيل"، و بالتالي ارتأينا بناء موقع تصوير لفيلم على المسرح يسائل مفهوم "الانتقال". الموقع التصويري في بيروت، داخل فندق، مخرجة فرنسية و فريق العمل يصورون فيلما حول الف ليلة و ليلة. سيشهد الموقع التصويري خلاف في الاراء و محاولات بائسة حول مسالة استغلال الصورة، و حول التقنيات المتعددة المستخدمة لإلتقاط الصورة بأكثر طريقة دموية و الاكثر جمالا في ابعادها. نتطلع الى النظر على العواقب المترتبة من خلق و نشر الصورة. في هذا الصدد نطرح سؤالا يؤثر علينا جميعا كأفراد طغت عليهم الصور العنيفة، و لكن بصفة خاصة كفنانين نقوم بإنتاج هذه الصور مع تحمل مسؤولية المخاطر الناتجة عن تفريغ القيمة من هذه الصور و تسطيحها و تعميمها.
