Ensemble, Sauvons la Tour des Fiefs de Sancerre

The restoration project of the Tour des Fiefs in Sancerre is an ambitious initiative aimed at preserving and revitalizing a crucial historical monument that offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the entire region ️🎖️ 🏰 Erected in the late 14th century, the Tour des Fiefs is the last remaining of the six towers of the feudal castle of Sancerre, destroyed in 1621. It stands as a precious testament to medieval history and an emblem of the region, having endured through the centuries. 🆘 However, over time and due to a lack of resources, the tower has been gradually deteriorating. In 2020, it was closed to the public for safety reasons. The urgent need for its restoration became abundantly clear. The Tour des Fiefs Association is comprised of a dedicated team of enthusiasts, including members of the local community, historians, architects, and committed volunteers. Leading the association is Rémi Pierre, the manager of the Château de Sancerre and custodian of the site for over 30 years. A history buff, he is the most eloquent advocate for the tower, always speaking about it with a touch of emotion. David Chicard, the association's vice-president, is the driving force behind the tower's renovation project. Together, Rémi and David have a knack for rallying heritage enthusiasts to their cause. Our project encompasses the complete renovation of the tower's structure, respecting its historical integrity while modernizing it for public access, including the creation of a cultural mediation reception area to enrich the visitor experience with interactive installations. The goal is to transform the Tower into a cultural and tourist center, thus consolidating Sancerre's identity and heritage. ✅ If we reach our initial goal of 15,000 euros, we can set our sights on the equally essential subsequent milestones: ✅ In a second phase, if we manage to reach this milestone, we will focus on reopening this monument to the public, allowing everyone to discover and appreciate its history and beauty, while adding an essential asset for visitors to our region 🏁 Moreover, if we reach our objectives, the association will obtain the management of the majority of the tower and the business on Place du Connétable through an emphyteutic lease with the owning company for the next 20 years. This emphyteusis will guarantee public access 5 days a week and ensure the continuity of this management even in the event of a change of ownership. Each milestone reached is a crucial step towards the realization of this historically and culturally significant project.

À la tête de l'association, Rémi Pierre, régisseur du Château de Sancerre et maître des lieux depuis plus de 30 ans. Passionné d'histoire, c'est lui qui parle le mieux de la tour, toujours avec une certaine émotion. David Chicard, vice-président de l'association, est quant à lui le meneur du projet de rénovation de la tour. Ensemble, Rémi et David ont le don de rallier les amoureux de patrimoine à leur cause.
