Let me introduce you to the concept right away before introducing myself further down :) As you can imagine, the concept of "Vill'Adventure" was born from the fusion of the word "Villa" (to me, a detached house with garden space) and the word "Adventure". While traveling the world to indulge in my passion for kitesurfing, I have often noted a lack of parallel activities in many places, which can be quite frustrating on windless days. I thrive on being active every day, regardless of the weather, especially while on vacation. A lover of outdoor activities in general, I hold a special affection for kitesurfing, surfing, paragliding, and mountain biking. This is why I meticulously select the locations for each Vill'Adventure, ensuring a mix of sporting and cultural activities for our guests in all circumstances. Moledo not only provides excellent conditions for kitesurfing but also for surfing, paragliding, and mountain biking, all within a 30-minute radius. It is this realm that I aim to introduce to our clients! The first two Vill'Adventure homes are nestled at the Óbidos lagoon. I unveiled the first in 2019 and the second in 2021. The lagoon is a splendid location, perfectly suited for all the activities that captivate both the Kite Control team and myself. A few words about the team: François - Director at Kite Control, kitesurf and wingfoil instructor - Born in 1988 in Belgium, I was introduced to kiting and paragliding at a young age. My initial experiences with buggy-kiting and paragliding began around the ages of 11 or 12, before my passion was captured by kitesurfing. The journey of Kite Control commenced a decade ago when I made the conscious decision to wholeheartedly pursue my passion. Following studies in real estate and a brief venture into the banking industry, I courageously stepped away from the comfort of stability to chase my dreams, as the routine of a desk job did not resonate with me. Subsequently, I embarked on a multi-year expedition brimming with valuable experiences, balancing the teaching of kitesurfing with diverse other jobs. The true inception of Kite Control unfolded upon my premature return from Australia. There, I spent a year teaching kitesurfing in Perth until an ankle injury compelled me to take a break. Back in Belgium with my leg in a cast amidst the depths of winter, I found the time for reflection, delving into marketing courses, collaborating with a friend on the school's logo, and naming the endeavor "Kite Control". Fueled by a strong belief in future success, I diligently prepared without a clear destination in sight. Following my recovery, I embarked on a journey along Portugal's west coast with my father in pursuit of the perfect kite spot. This quest led us to the discovery of the captivating Óbidos lagoon, where I decided to settle just two months later! Setting out from Belgium in a small converted van, I equipped myself with kitesurfing gear tailored for teaching, navigated the essential administrative procedures, and commenced teaching kitesurfing in Portugal on May 1, 2016. The project swiftly gained momentum with the gracious support of many. Four years later, while visiting the northern coast of Portugal, I was enraptured by the charms of Moledo. A deep affection for this picturesque haven emerged, its endless shores caressed by remarkable winds. Following multiple visits, I decided to introduce this new destination to my clientele. The strong presence we now have in Moledo signals the commencement of a new venture, the creation of a guesthouse, our Vill'Adventure Moledo. Presently engrossed in this project alongside the management of my two kite schools with unwavering dedication, I am fortunate to work alongside an exceptional team with whom I have collaborated for numerous years. Throughout the winter season, I devote time to family excursions with my partner and our young son. Whether reveling in the wonders of mountain retreats or engaging in water and aerial activities in the southern hemisphere, we strive to strike a balance between enjoyment and focused dedication to our achievements in Portugal. Truly, it embodies the life of my dreams. Fluent in French, English, and Portuguese, I am poised to continue this journey with vigor and passion. Martin - Manager at Kite Control Moledo, kitesurf, wingfoil and surf instructor - I was born in Argentina, and 12 years ago, I embarked on a life-changing kitesurfing odyssey. Before this, I worked as a high school teacher, devoting my summers to sharing the art of kitesurfing. In 2017, I leaped to become a full-time kitesurf instructor, propelling me on a journey across over ten countries in pursuit of the perfect wind. Along the way, I've forged connections with countless individuals, shaping my path in profound ways. My love for boardsports transcends kitesurfing and extends to surfing, wing foiling, and skating, making Portugal a mecca for me. Teaching kitesurfing at Moledo Beach in Portugal is nothing short of enchanting. The expansive, untouched sandy shoreline offers a breathtaking backdrop, coupled with reliable side-onshore winds. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, I derive immense satisfaction from fostering cross-cultural communication and connections. The current project update: The purchase of the house was finalised on 7th February 2024 and renovations began on 1st April. So far, we've already insulated the exterior of the house, spruced up the garden, prepped the walls for painting, drafted a precise interior layout plan, and kicked off painting the exterior, including the covered barbecue space. The next steps include: Replacing doors and windows Roof insulation Installing a dual-flow ventilation system and a heating/air conditioning system Renovating the new kitchen and two bathrooms on the first floor Converting the garden level into a studio for four people Revamping the outdoor spaces There's still plenty to do, but we're excited for what's to come in the project ahead.
