<p><strong>BIOT is A VILLAGE Of ARTISTS</strong></p><p> </p><p>Labeled as an Arts and Crafts Town since 1997 for the business of glass, Biot has become, in almost 60 years, the capital of contemporary glass in France. Making his specialty, the glass bullate, a springboard for the art and craft industry, at a time when the pottery was suffering increasingly from the industrial revolution, Biot has managed to maintain its momentum creator, and today has more than 80 artists and artisans, including 10 of the glassmakers in business.The history canopy starts to Biot in 1956 when the engineer ceramist <strong>Eloi Monod</strong> discovered the technique of blown glass bullate.He then founded the Verrerie de Biot©.</p><p> </p><p>Creators and generations of artists who passed on their know-how and their secret workshops are of Biot is still today one of the spearheads of the creation of contemporary glass. Among those one can quote: the late <strong>Jean Claude NOVARO, Robert and Antoine PIERRINI, Nicolas LATY, Daniel and Christophe SABA and Ada</strong> <strong>LOUMANY</strong> among the most well-known.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Souffle de verre (Breath of glass)</strong></p><p><br /><strong>Frédéric Van Overschelde</strong> resumed in 2014 <strong>"Souffle de verre"</strong> workshop for glass blowing in the heart of the old village of Biot. It is one of many focus of this picturesque village, and many visitors never fail to stop to admire Frederic in his workshop creating a piece that will remain unique.</p><p> </p><p><strong><em>This workshop is currently experiencing some difficulties and that's why a group of citizens biotois decided to help him in order to save this important part of the local heritage that makes a city of crafts of Biot</em></strong></p><p> </p><p>Frédéric Van Overschelde comes from a family of advertising neon glassblowers. He was born in 1964. He feels very early desire to work more freely and more artistic glass. This is why he returned to the Institute voor Kunstambachten (IKA - Institute of Arts and crafts) in Belgium where he studied for 6 years with Koen Vandrstukken and Miloslava Slobodova. It will work for many years with various workshops in the Benelux and thus gain experience and a master's degree completed this craft. He has the opportunity to settle in Biot and express his art at the heart of the village in the workshop "glass blowing" is in 2014.</p>
<p>If the crowdfunding is a success, we are confident that the energies will unblock and will save "Souffle de verre".</p><p> </p><p>Use of the 10000 €</p><p> </p><p>This amount will restart the production with the purchase of raw materials. This investment should also enable us to mobilize investors, banks and the chamber of crafts to ensure our sustainability.</p><p> </p><p>This step passed we would like with the help of the chamber of trades, hire an apprentice in order to maintain our know-how.</p>
