He began daydreaming about going freediving in the calm, peaceful waters of the Red Sea. In a snap decision, he made his dream come true. He booked a flight to Egypt to spend New Year’s Eve in the water!</p> <p dir="ltr"> His subsequent freediving experience in<strong> the Blue Hole in Dahab </strong>would change him forever. Swimming amongst other experienced divers, he felt energized by the atmosphere and drawn to the sport’s core values: friendship, humility, grace and respect. And yet, Matthias was surprised by the lack of safety measures being taken. He was astounded to see that some of the <strong>gear was even home-made</strong>… So he went back home with an idea in mind: <strong>something needed to be done to help the freediving community.</strong></p> <p dir="ltr"> In 2014, after a lot of brainstorming, information collection, hard work, meetings and attempts to build partnerships, the original idea grew into a <strong>real business plan: Matthias would create a new brand,</strong> dedicated to perfecting the sport of freediving through innovative products tailored to freedivers' needs.</p> <p> In 2015, with a team rallied behind his cause,<strong> he founded SUBMIND.</strong></p> <p> <img alt="Submind_crowdfunding_team_v2_en-1455289823" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/277507/Submind_crowdfunding_team_v2_EN-1455289823.jpg"></p> <p>  </p>
