The Silencers, the so-called band from Scotland, is back with a new record. For those of you really excited to discover this album, we decided to let you be the first to get access to a unique version of it. This new album, Silent Highway, will be available worldwide on Octobre 13, 2023 in CD and vinyl but regarding the craze around the release of the first single 67 Overdrive on June 23, we wanted to propose this preorder session with a double LP splatter in limited edition with an autograph from its leader Jimme O’Neill. A band who will compose personal and sensitive songs and melodies to touch people. Barely arrived and already tired of the ever-changing London trends, they started seeking for a sound that will stand the test of time and last through the years: a timeless music. The Silencers were born and they are back today with their 10th album: Silent Highway. The recipe remains the same. Thoroughly crafted tracks, thrilling melodies and lyrics with an amazing sensitivity. The twelve tracks composing Silent Highway will haunt you and make you feel at one with it - a hypnotic groove that will make you stamp your feet or dance on its lyrics whether genuine, sincere or unreal than political, ironic or amusing. Jimme O’Neill, their original leader is at the same time singer, author and composer. He takes his role very seriously… excepted when he’s not. « I love to have fun writing and composing a song, I can’t help it! I love every kind of music and draw my inspiration in my environment. I write about what I see, hear or feel. I particularly love to melt Pop, Rock, Blues, Folk, Country or Soul but in the end, it will always sound as The Silencers. When I get to this point, I have something there. » Silent Highway was created during 2020 lockdown between Nantes, Rennes and Glasgow and co-produced by Jimme and Baptiste Brondy, drummer for the band Delgrès and Jean-Louis Aubert. Baptiste already played with The Silencers back in the days and Jimme likes to play around their strong similarity: they were both born Aries on an April 3 and they’re both left-handed but playing as right-handed. In other words, Jimme and Baptiste were meant to meet each other and to get along very well! « We both conceive our music the exact same way. We are like two human beings with one common brain, as if we were communicating telepathically. » Let’s go back to this 10th album genesis. Jimme O’Neill wish was to go back to the roots of what molded ‘the’ Silencers sound so to say their very first album A Letter from St. Paul, the one where it all started. A true hit pipeline with tracks such as Answer Me, The Real McCoy, Bulletproof Heart or I Can Feel It, but from which first single, Painted Moon - a heavy and and powerful Blues anthem where Jimme shares his vision and thoughts about the Falklands war-, will soon become an international hit and is still one of the band's shows standard nowadays. Even if the first three Silencers albums reached gold in French charts and that the band is still enjoying here and worldwide a strong fans community, Jimme’s deepest wish was to keep up with what had already been achieved and, above all, not to disappoint the fans with this new album. « Silent Highway has been made for the fans. It took time for us to reach what we wanted. For me, making a Silencers album is always a massive task, we set the bar so high that I always ended up exhausted and a bit crazy at the same time. There’s always a price to pay and something’s happening: for this one, we had a global pandemic! » The day before a morning flight to Glasgow where Jimme O’Neill was supposed to go to record and mix the album with the band, the owner of the bar where he was enjoying a beer in Rennes announced that he had to close the doors until further notice… Go to Glasgow anyway until an undetermined date or stay in Rennes? After a last pint of Guinness, Jimme made up his mind: he will stay in Rennes. This lockdown meant that the band had to find new ways to work and record this album - they will have to count on technology to exchange ideas. It is in this way that Aura O’Neill, Jimme’s daughter, recorded her voice parts in the studio without him. A major first that Jimme is taking now as a mantra: let things go and let everyone’s creativity burst freely. Finally, after each member had done its own part, the final result came out, well distilled with their very first record, a Silent Highway as a nearly ideal synthesis of everything achieved by the band since their debut.
