<p><strong>Qui ?</strong></p>
<p>Je m’appelle Nicolas Riquette et je suis artiste plasticien. Né à Namur en 1988, je vis et travaille à Bruxelles.</p>
<p>Diplômé d’un master en arts plastiques, visuels et de l’espace dans l’option sculpture, obtenu à l’Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles-Ecole Supérieure des Arts, en 2015 ; je développe un univers plastique intrinsèquement lié à la notion d’espace.</p>
<p>Lauréat du Prix Laurent Moonens 2015, j’ai approfondi ma réflexion pendant les neuf mois de résidence au sein de la maison de la Fondation Moonens.</p>
<p>Tout en travaillant individuellement et en participant à des expositions collectives, je me suis ensuite consacré au développement d’une œuvre collaborative avec l’artiste plasticienne Claire Ducène, intitulée « Endless House ». Entre 2016 et 2020, le Collectif a signé plusieurs expositions à Bruxelles, notamment à l’Hectolitre et à la Maison Pelgrims, et ailleurs, entre autre, sur le site du Sart Tilman à Liège.</p>

<p><strong>Quoi ?</strong></p>
<p>Les neuf mois de résidence à la Fondation Moonens, dans le cœur de Bruxelles, ont permis à mon univers plastique personnel de s’épanouir.</p>
<p>5 ans plus tard, c’est donc dans la maison de la Fondation Moonens que je souhaite installer ma première exposition personnelle de grande envergure, à la fin de l’été 2021.</p>
<p>Le Projet intitulé <strong>« Incipit – Solo show Nicolas Riquette »</strong> sera le point de départ de ma pratique plastique personnelle conjuguant sculptures, installations, ameublement et images issus de mon univers propre.</p>
<p>En effet, un incipit, du latin <em>incipio, is, ere</em> : « commencer », désigne les premiers mots, voire les premiers paragraphes, d'une œuvre musicale chantée ou d'un texte littéraire. L’incipit a pour fonction de préciser le style général de l’œuvre à venir.</p>

<p><strong>Concrètement</strong></p>
<p>Le projet ayant vu le jour à l’automne 2019, il est donc en « gestation » depuis plus d’un an. De nombreux dessins et objets sont d’ores et déjà réalisés ou du moins esquissés mais le chantier débutera véritablement dès le début de ma résidence d’été à la Fondation Moonens, en date du 1er juillet 2021. Les deux mois d’été seront entièrement consacrés à la construction de cet ambitieux projet comprenant de nombreuses installations <em>in situ. </em>L’exposition se dévoilera ensuite au public à partir du 28 aout, jusqu’à la fin du mois de septembre.</p>
<p>Le concept tout entier s’articulera autour de notions liées au contexte d’exposition. Bien souvent, ce contexte est plus important pour moi que l’objet en lui-même. Les trois niveaux de la maison seront investis afin de déployer des installations qui s’enchaineront comme les chapitres d’un récit.</p>
<p>Les grands espaces me permettront de présenter des dessins, encadrés ou non, des sculptures de grandes dimensions, de plus petits objets sur socle, des installations immersives et quelques photographies et vidéos.</p>
<p>A mes œuvres, apparentées à des maquettes et esquisses d’architectes, se mêleront des œuvres de Laurent Moonens (artiste mis à l’honneur par la Fondation Moonens) et surtout, des « objets » issus de la conjugaison de nos deux univers plastique.</p>

<p><strong>Help an emerging artist launch a real career by enabling them to have their first major solo exhibition!</strong></p>

<p><strong>Who am I?</strong></p>

My name is Nicolas Riquette and I am a visual artist. Born in Namur in 1988, I live and work in Brussels.<br />
I graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels in 2015 with a master's degree in plastic, visual and spatial arts in the option of sculpture. I am developing a plastic universe intrinsically linked to the notion of space. <br />
Winner of the Laurent Moonens Prize 2015, I deepened my reflection during the nine-month residency at the Moonens Foundation house. <br />
While working individually and participating in collective exhibitions, I then devoted myself to the development of a collaborative work with the visual artist Claire Ducène, entitled "Endless House". Between 2016 and 2020, the Collective has had several exhibitions in Brussels, notably at the Hectolitre and Maison Pelgrims, and elsewhere, including at the Sart Tilman site in Liège. </p>
<p><strong>What is it?</strong></p>

The nine-month residency at the Moonens Foundation, in the heart of Brussels, allowed my personal plastic universe to blossom. <br />
Five years later, it is in the house of the Moonens Foundation that I would like to hold my first large-scale solo exhibition at the end of summer 2021. <br />
The project entitled "Incipit - Solo show Nicolas Riquette" will be the starting point of my personal plastic practice combining sculptures, installations, furnishings and images from my own universe.<br />
Indeed, an incipit, from the Latin incipio, is, ere: "to begin", designates the first words, or even the first paragraphs, of a sung musical work or a literary text. The function of the incipit is to specify the general style of the work to come. </p>
<p><strong>In concrete terms</strong></p>

The project was launched in the autumn of 2019, so it has been in 'gestation' for over a year. Many drawings and objects have already been made or at least sketched out, but the work will really begin at the start of my summer residency at the Moonens Foundation, on 1 July 2021. The two summer months will be entirely devoted to the construction of this ambitious project, which will include numerous in situ installations. The exhibition will then be open to the public from 28 August until the end of September. <br />
The entire concept will be based on notions of the exhibition context. This context is often more important to me than the object itself. The three levels of the house will be used to display installations that will follow each other like chapters in a story. <br />
The large spaces will allow me to present drawings, framed or not, large-scale sculptures, smaller objects on pedestals, immersive installations and some photographs and videos.<br />
In addition to my works, which are akin to architectural models and sketches, there will be works by Laurent Moonens (an artist honoured by the Moonens Foundation) and, above all, "objects" resulting from the combination of our two plastic worlds.</p>

<p>Concrètement la collecte me permettra d’acheter les <strong>matériaux nécessaires</strong> à la réalisation des sculptures et installation :</p>
<p>-du bois (panneaux et chevrons),</p>
<p>-du carrelage,</p>
<p>-du verre,</p>
<p>-du béton,</p>
<p>-du plâtre,</p>
<p>-de la peinture,</p>
<p>-du tissus,</p>
<p>-des tiges métalliques filetées,</p>
<p>-des éléments en marbre,</p>
<p>-des la quincaillerie (vis, clous, charnières, crochets, …),</p>
<p>-…</p>
<p>Ce budget me permettra ensuite de faire appel aux services <strong>d’un imprimeur, d’un encadreur et d’un ferronnier.</strong></p>
<p>Il servira également à acheter le <strong>matériel électrique</strong> nécessaire à l’éclairage et au fonctionnement des installations, et finalement, il me permettra de proposer un <strong>drink de bienvenue</strong> aux spectateurs lors du vernissage du 28 aout.</p>

<p>In concrete terms, the collection will allow me to buy the <strong>materials necessary</strong> to create the sculptures and installation:</p>

<p>-Tiling,</p>
<p>-glass,</p>
<p>-concrete,</p>
<p>-plaster,</p>
<p>-painting,</p>
<p>-fabric,</p>
<p>-threaded metal rods,</p>
<p>-marble elements,</p>
<p>-hardware (screws, nails, hinges, hooks, ...),</p>
<p>-...</p>
<p>This budget will then allow me to call on the services of <strong>a printer, a framer and an ironworker.</strong></p>
<p>It will also be used to buy the <strong>electrical equipment</strong> necessary for the lighting and the functioning of the installations, and finally, it will allow me to offer a <strong>welcome drink</strong> to the spectators during the opening on August 28th.</p>
