Les rares orchestres nationaux et grandes maisons d'opéras parviennent aujourd’hui encore à conserver un soutien financier de l’État. Mais les autres formations et institutions classiques dans leur majorité voient diminuer, ou même disparaître leurs subventions, assistant malgré leurs efforts et leurs succès à la suppression de l'un de leurs indispensables moyens de survie.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 1.35em; padding: 3px 0px 0px; border: 0px; line-height: 1.5em; font-family: inherit; word-wrap: break-word; color: rgb(68, 68, 68); vertical-align: top;"> <strong style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-style: inherit; line-height: 18.459999084472656px; font-family: inherit;">On endort l'opinion</strong> en affirmant à tout bout de champ que Bastille ne désemplit pas, que les conservatoires refusent des élèves ou que certains festivals isolés font salle comble. La réalité du terrain nous montre un tableau bien différent.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 1.35em; padding: 3px 0px 0px; border: 0px; line-height: 1.5em; font-family: inherit; word-wrap: break-word; color: rgb(68, 68, 68); vertical-align: top;"> <strong style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-style: inherit; line-height: 18.459999084472656px; font-family: inherit;">Le petit monde très réduit des mélomanes vieillit et ne se renouvelle pas</strong>, faute de promotion du répertoire classique, notamment dans les médias. Absents des médias, les acteurs de la musique classique ont en conséquence davantage de mal à convaincre les entreprises de leur accorder du mécénat, ces dernières ne pouvant plus valoriser leur action en apparaissant dans la presse. Les festivals ne remplissent pas leurs salles s'ils ne programment pas les derniers tubes à faire encore recette : Requiem de Mozart, Carmina Burana... C'est d'ailleurs cette &oelig;uvre qui sera donnée à deux reprises par deux formations différentes en l'espace de trois mois à la Philharmonie de Paris en 2015. Cette logique menace à court terme la richesse et la diversité du répertoire. Les conservatoires n'ont souvent pas les moyens de proposer suffisamment de places par rapport au nombre d'habitants de leur territoire.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 1.35em; padding: 3px 0px 0px; border: 0px; line-height: 1.5em; font-family: inherit; word-wrap: break-word; color: rgb(68, 68, 68); vertical-align: top;"> <strong style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-style: inherit; line-height: 18.459999084472656px; font-family: inherit;">Nous pourrions encore citer une multitude de faits</strong> pour attirer l'attention sur la gravité de la situation. Contentons-nous de quelques exemples. La commune de Baillargues (Hérault) a tout bonnement décidé de fermer son école de musique pour contrebalancer le coût de la réforme des rythmes scolaires. L'édition 2014 du Festival de musique de Strasbourg vient d'être annulée.
